The Abandoned (2006)
Review by Jeff Hudson
Directed by: Nacho Cerda
Starring:
Anastasia Hille/Marie
Karel Roden/Nicolai
Plot:
A film producer who was adopted as a baby and sent to America, returns to her native Russia and the family farm. Once there, strange things begin to happen including the disappearance of her guide, the manifestation of ghosts (including her own!) and the appearance of another man who has been drawn to the farm for the same reasons.
Acting:
The acting in this film was top notch, Anastasia Hille(Marie) was great she was a very realistic character that you could relate with and believe, not another Hollywood actress, and Karel Roden(Nicolai) was good in his role playing a very mysterious guy.
Gore:
There’s not to much here just some gunshot’s and some pigs eating a guy.
T & A:
We get one pair and a bush shot, but it was from a dead woman, I’m not into that shit.
Directing:
This was the first film I have seen from nacho Cerda and I must say I was very impressed with the way the film looked and he had some amazing camera shots. He did a great job with the creepy environment, this film had some creepy moments.
Soundtrack:
The score was well done and added to the great location of the film.
Final thoughts:
I thought this film was great, I didn’t really know what to expect coming into it, but now I want to go back and check out some of his other films. I wish I could have seen it in theaters when it came around for it’s short run, I would say give this movie a rent. I give it a 7/10.
