Anamorph (2007)
Review by Bindi Lavelle

Willam Dafoe leads this well written exploration of obsession. Anamorph tells a simple story laced with plenty of intrigue.
Detective Stan Aubray, a veteran New York cop is sent to investigate a series of murders, in which the bodies are arranged into elaborate art works called Anamorphs. Through his investigation BLAH becomes convinced that the killer is Uncle Eddy, a serial killer he investigated earlier in his career, who was presumed dead.
With the other cops assuming the new killer is an Uncle Eddy copycat, Aubray delves into the old case and old wounds are opened.
The intricately arranged bodies are not only a clever part of the story, but are visually stunning; this movie has some great revealed. It is this feature that makes Anamorph more memorable than your average serial killer flick.
William Dafoe plays Aubray softly, which creates a great air suspicion; Aubray is quietly absorbed in his own world to the point where the audience, begins to think that he may just be paranoid. The film's climax is perfect for Dafoe's portrayal of the detective, but for the viewer, it still leaves you wanting.
Fan's of serial killer thrillers will enjoy this film, loaded with tension and rich visuals.7/10.
