Believers (2007)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Daniel Myrick

Starring:
Johnny Messner/David
Jon Huertas/Vic
Saige Ryan Campbell/Libby
Daniel Benzali/The Teacher

Plot:
While on duty, David and Vic, two emergency paramedics receive a call from a young girl whose mother has lost consciousness in a deserted area, but they soon discover that the life they have to save may be their own. Kidnapped and locked in an isolated building, David tries to discover the truth behind a secret cult and their beliefs. As Vic's beliefs are challenged and the fine-line between religion and science are crossed, David must find a way to escape and get out, before "they" get him.

Acting:
The acting in this film is pretty standard for a strait to video flick, as in they are dull, and don’t care a lot about what happens to them. Johnny Messner(david) plays the tough guy that acts big and bad, and we get Jon Huertas(Vic) who the religious one that is more sensitive about things, so yea most of story is around them stuck in some bathroom stalls, other than that there are a few other characters that don’t add a lot the movie.

Gore:
The blood is pretty light here, we get some gunshots, a toilet lid to the back, and a little shocking, yep it’s as boring as it sounds.

T & A:
We get a brief boob shot and 2 dudes butt shots.

Directing:
This was a pretty strait forward movie, couple good shots here and there, and the special effects looked real cheap at the end of the movie. Daniel did The Blair Witch Project witch was shot a lot better.

Soundtrack:
The score was pretty good but nothing that helped the flick out.

Final thoughts:
Believers sounded like a cool film, and I really wanted to see what else Daniel could do and I must say I was pretty let down and could see why this went strait to dvd. The acting seemed real fake and couldn’t care at all for them, and I thought the build up was real disappointing at the end. If you liked The Blair Witch Project at all this is nothing like that, but in the bathroom stall the director had a Blair Witch symbol drawn on the stall wall, pretty funny, but I would say stay away from this movie. I give it a 3/10.
