Blade II (2002)
Review by Bindi Lavelle

Wesley Snipes (what a great name for an action star), returns to the role of Blade, the arse kicking human/vampire hybrid, this time he battles super mutant vampires.

The plot is pretty straight forward: a vampire goes around killing other vampires, with the unfortunate by-product of mindless mutant vampires. This forces Blade to join forces with a vampire clan in order to defeat the mutants.

These mutants look great, a combination of John Carpenter's The Thing and Nosferatu, moving like supernatural ninjas, but can be simply savage when appropriate.

Blade's comic book origins come through in the dynamic action scenes; which see Blade and co using fluid (and flashy) martial arts with James Bond style gadgetry to put a beat down on the mutants.

All in all, Blade II is a slick mixture of action and supernatural with the visual styling typical of Del Toro. 7/10
