Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Joe Berlinger
Starring:
Jeffery Donovan/Jeff
Erica Leerhsen/Erica
Kim Director/Kim
Tristine Skyler/Tristine
Plot:
To cash in on all of the "real world" hype of the events in the first film, a man from Burkitsville, Maryland opens a "Blair Witch Hunt" tour, which shows patrons various locations from the original film. Some people decide to take the tour, and wind up where Rustin Parr's house once was. There, they decide to camp for the evening, but in the morning, they realize they didn't sleep and they don't remember anything that happened the previous night. From there, they go back to town, and discover that something...or someone has come with them.
Acting:
The acting was very well done, Jeffery Donovan(Jeff) was great in the lead role his character is pretty out there but is fun to watch, Erica Leerhsen(Erica) plays a very good Wiccan and is very hypnotizing in the way she draws you to her character, Kim Director(Kim) plays the Goth girl to perfection, and Tristine Skyler(Tristine) is pretty normal until about half way through the film then she really comes to life.
Gore:
There wasn’t a lot of the red stuff here but we do get some repeated shots of heads smashed in, some stabbing, a nasty scratch, a girl hung, and a slit throat.
T & A:
Erica shows us her goods a lot in the movie, and the ladies get a butt shot from Jeff.
Directing:
Joe gives us a lot of slick fast paced cuts and shots, there is also quite a bit of jump scares that could have been left out, but overall he knew what he was doing and it looked great.
Soundtrack:
We get a real cool soundtrack with music from Queens Of The Stone Age, Marilyn Manson, and more. The score was also very nice but overshadows by the music.
Final thoughts:
Blair Witch 2 is a very well made movie that I felt was a perfect sequel. The Blair Witch would have been a good stand alone movie but since they went along with making a sequel I dug it. The characters were all real good and gave us a lot of different personalities that made it fun. The thing is you have to go into this open minded and not think about how the first film was done, if you can do that you should enjoy this film. I think Joe was a great choice as director he also did the Paradise Lost documentaries that were amazing and I felt is what gave this movie some realness to it. I would say this is a must own. I give it a 8/10.
