Blood: The Last Vampire (2000)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Hiroyuki Kitakubo

Starring:
Youki Kudoh/Saya
Joe Romersa/David
Stuart Robinson/Louis

Plot:
Japan, 1966. Saya is part of a secret team destroying daemons. She is sent undercover as a student at the Yokota Air Base in Fussa-shi, Tokyo, just before Halloween. She discovers that two of her classmates are vampires in disguise just as they are preparing to attack the school nurse; meanwhile, her colleagues have discovered another vampire acting as a bartender in the local red-light district. A spectacular battle ensues.

Acting:
Since this was a animation flick and there was no real acting I would say I enjoyed the character of Saya, From what I could tell was she was a vampire hunter but also could be a vampire herself and is the last of her kind. This movie was just under 50 minutes so not a lot was established.

Gore:
We get a lot of spraying blood which I love to see for Japanese movies, we also get a lot of sword action, gunshots, and some off screen stuff.

T & A:
We get one pair of animated boobs.

Directing:
For the small amount of time Hiroyuki did some great stuff and made me want to see more. The animation was awesome.

Soundtrack:
We get some jazz music here and there and a nice under score that didn’t drowned out any of the action.

Final thoughts:
Blood was a very slick and well made short movie and just basically teases us with a small amount of goods to make the viewers want more. From what I know there has been no other movies made and that is very disappointing because a lot could have come from this. The animation was top notch and the story seemed to be good but it was just way too short. I would say check this one out and maybe sometime they will revive this and give us a sequel. I give it a 7/10.
