Bride of Frankenstein
Review by Jeff

Directed by: James Whale

Starring:
Boris Karloff/The Monster
Colin Clive/Dr. Frankenstein
Valerie Hobson/Elizabeth
Ernest Thesiger/Dr. Pretorius

Plot:
Dr. Frankenstein and his monster both turn out to be alive, not killed as previously believed. Dr. Frankenstein wants to get out of the evil experiment business, but when a mad scientist, Dr. Pretorius, kidnaps his wife, Dr. Frankenstein agrees to help him create a new creature, a woman, to be the companion of the monster.

Acting:
The acting in this film is great, that’s one of the strong points of old horror films is the acting is top notch, Boris Karloff(The Monster) was great you really felt sorry for him throughout the film, Colin Clive(Dr. Frankenstein, was good in the lead role, Ernest Thesiger(Dr. Pretorius) was a great mad scientist and you really want to see him get what he has coming to him, and in a small but very funny role was Una O’Connor(Minnie).

Gore:
We don’t see any blood or gore at all we get is some gunshots and The Monster fucking people up left and right.

T & A:
Not a thing here, this is old school horror they didn’t show that stuff back then.

Directing:
James did a nice job with the setting and look of the film, it seems very authentic, there was also some real nice shots throughout the film.

Soundtrack:
We get a nice score that seemed kind of playful at times and at other times real dark and creepy.

Final thoughts:
The Bride Of Frankenstein is a classic and I like it more than the first one, it seems like it has some more humor and the characters in the film are great, and well balanced, they just don’t make films like this anymore. If you are a fan of older classic Universal monster movies you will love this one. I give it a 8/10.
