Captivity (2007)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Roland Joffe
Starring:
Elisha Cuthbert/Jennifer
Daniel Gillies/Gary
Plot:
Top cover girl and fashion model, Jennifer Tree has it all beauty, fame, money and power. Her face appears on covers of hundreds of magazines. At the top of her game, Jennifer is America's sweetheart. She is loved and adored and sought after. Everyone wants her. But someone out there has been watching and waiting. Someone wants her in the worst way. Out alone at a charity event in Soho, Jennifer is drugged and taken. Held captive in a cell, Jennifer is subjected to a series of terrifying, life-threatening tortures that could only be conceived by a twisted, sadistic mind. It follows the story of one woman who is abducted and tortured, held against her will in a place where days turn into weeks.
Acting:
Elisha Cuthbert(Jennifer) comes across as a stuck up brat in this film, and does a good job at it, I’m just not a fan of her acting she seems so boring and doesn’t seem to give it her all. Daniel Gillies(Gary) was pretty good here, he comes across well as a crazy dude.
Gore:
Gore? Where is that here? Well we get a gunshot’s and a knife to the chest.
T & A:
What do you think? Yea not shit.
Directing:
Roland makes this film look like every saw type of film out there, it’s shot dark, and just has that mtv music video look to it that I hate so much.
Soundtrack:
The score is ok, but nothing to brag about.
Final thoughts:
This film was worse than I thought it would be, and that’s pretty bad. I had a idea it would be like most torture film out there today but this one didn’t even have the gore so it was real shitty, I would say it‘s like Saw made to air on mtv. I give this film a 1/10.
