C.C. and Company (1970)

Review by Mari Lynne Rupp

I think this one falls under bikersploitation, as Joe Namath and his buddies wreak havock on local residents, and rip off supermarkets (The opening shot depicts Namath making a sandwich using supermarket ingredients, putting the rest away, eating it and leaving, paying only for a pack of gum)
When some of the gang come across a stranded fashion journalist in a broken down limo in the desert (Ann-Margaret, thank you very much), they harrass and terrorize her (one of them being grindhouse veteran Sid Haig) CC (Namath) comes to her rescue, and becomes infatuated with her, joining a motocross race to impress her. As things take their predictable turn, and CC leaves the gang for a cushy live with Ann, the gang comes back for their revenge and a cut of the race winnings they feel entitled to.
This movie is dated, cheesy and wonderful. There's bikes, biker chicks, hot rods, and a kitschy Ann Margaret song. Kiva Kelly does a great job as the Biker Leader's Main Mama, and Teda Bracci provides wonderful comic relief as "Pig" one of the girls forced to hustle for money for the gang....And just doesn't seem to mind a bit. I can picture this as a great double feature at the drive-in with "Billy Jack" or "Born Losers", to cut the seriousness. It's a fantastic popcorn film, well worth its place in the grindhouse library.
