Cthulhu Cult (Lulu)

Review by Dave Wolff
Author: Venger Satanis
Regardless of what you think or heard of Venger Satanis, regardless of whether you’re a member of his Cult Of Cthulhu, regardless of whether you walk the left hand path, there are things here to benefit anyone who sifts through and finds something that personally speaks to them. Just to clarify, I don’t speak as an occultist or someone who claims to have more knowledge than I actually do, but rather as someone who firmly believes that reality is what people make it; also someone who is curious of several different religious paths outside what the general public considers acceptable. If you resonate to the LaVeyan, the Crowleyan or the Lovecraftian, the concept of “change in accordance with will” transcends their differences. This tract seems to recognize that, and the importance of ritual, carrying both to a certain place comparable to the madness sought by Lovecraft at the height of his authoring career. Satanis utilizes horror and information gathered on the net (incidentally, he credits Wikipedia for the info gathered) to engross the reader and keep him turning the pages until he finds that part of him that responds to his own personal awakening. My interview with Satanis for Autoeroticasphyxium (issue #15) offers a deeper insight into the Cult; this book is likewise a good reference point for how it started.
