Dark Water (2005)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Walter Salles

Starring:
Jennifer Connelly/Dahlia
John C. Reilly/Mr. Murray
Tim Roth/Jeff
Dougray Scott/Kyle

Plot:
Dahlia and her daughter Cecelia move into a rundown apartment on New York's Roosevelt Island. She is currently in midst of divorce proceedings and the apartment, though near an excellent school for her daughter, is all she can afford. From the time she arrives, there are mysterious occurrences and there is a constant drip from the ceiling in her daughter's bedroom. There are also the noises coming from the apartment directly above hers, though it would appear to be vacant. Is the apartment haunted or is there a simpler explanation?

Acting:
The acting in this movie was pretty bad for the most part, Jennifer Connelly(Dahlia) was pretty good with what she had, but I have never been a fan of her stuff, and she just didn’t fit the role to great, John C. Reilly(Mr. Murray) played a great role here, but his acting couldn't save this movie.

Gore:
Not a thing unless nasty ass city water counts?

T & A:
Not a thing here.

Directing:
Walter did a ok job with the shots, but nothing stood out to me, it’s a lot like all the other Japanese remakes out there.

Soundtrack:
We get a pretty solid score when used.

Final thoughts:
Dark water was by far the worst of all the Japanese remakes I have seen so far, I could not wait for this movie to end. There was no real good scare scenes, and it just felt real boring and dry. I would say skip this one and go watch the original. It is way better. I give this film a 1/10.
