Devil (2010)

Review by Mari Lynne Rupp

M.Night Shyamalan really hits a winner with this nail-biter. The idea is that five people, who for different reasons, find themselves on the same elevator and eventually realize an ancient evil entity is among them.

This is an extremely powerful movie and moved me with the same tour-de-force that "Sixth Sense" boasted. With the unsettling upside-down opening credits, and the ominous, foreshadowing narration throughout, this movie grips you, and holds you as you are on the edge of your seat.

Predictably, as the characters in the elevator wait to be rescued, emotions run high, and drama unfolds as they cope with being stuck in a small space for hours on end. As the security guards and police detective do their best to aid the small unfortunate group, who's only link is a security camera, and a one-way microphone, backgrounds on each character is revealed.

There are so many twists I will not reveal them to you here, but I have to say this is the best movie he has made in a long time. 9/10.
