Don’t Look In The Basement (1973)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: S.F. Brownrigg
Starring:
Rosie Holotik/Nurse Beale
Bill McGhee/Sam
Annabelle Weenick/Dr. Masters
Michael Harvey/Dr. Stephens
Plot:
Nurse Beale arrives at the isolated Stephens Sanitarium to work, only to learn that Dr. Stephens was murdered by one of the patients and his successor, Dr. Masters, is not very eager to take on new staff. Charlotte finds her job maddeningly hard as the patients torment and harass her at every turn, and she soon learns why Dr. Masters is so eager to keep outsiders out.
Acting:
The acting in this flick was pretty good, Rosie Holotik(Nurse Beale) was very likeable and played a good lead role, Bill McGhee(Sam) was great and another likeable character you cant help but like, the rest of cast was spot on and did some good acting.
Gore:
This movie was very light on the gore, we get a axe to the back, a lady strangled, some off screen stuff, a lady hacked up, and a axe to the stomach.
T & A:
We get one pair of boobs.
Directing:
S.F. did a great job with character development, and there were some cool shots.
Soundtrack:
We get a pretty bad score that didn’t fit at all.
Final thoughts:
Don’t Look In The Basement looked like a made for TV movie, I was a little let down by the lack of gore and killing, the movie was pretty boring and the build up to the end were we see what’s in the basement is a huge let down. I would say skip this movie unless you get it in one of those 20 movie packs for 10 bucks like I did. I give it a 3/10.
