Event Horizon (1997)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by:Paul Anderson

Starring:
Laurence Fishburne/Captain Miller
Sam Neill/Weir
Kathleen Quinlan/Peters
Jack Noseworthy/Justin

Plot:
In the year 2047 a group of astronauts are sent to investigate and salvage the long lost starship "Event Horizon". The ship disappeared mysteriously 7 years before on its maiden voyage and with its return comes even more mystery as the crew of the "Lewis and Clark" discover the real truth behind its disappearance and something even more terrifying.

Acting:
Laurence Fishburne(Captain Miller) was great like in almost every film he does he brings a lot of creditability to the film. Sam Neill(Weir) did fine for what he had to go with, I know he gets a bad rap a lot of times but I dug him here. And the rest of the cast was ok.

Gore:
We get a slit wrist, gouged out eyes, a guy getting cut open, and someone on fire, there are also a lot of other things here and there, that I don’t want to spoil.

T & A:
We get 1 pair of boobs, and it was quite a messed up scene.

Directing:
The film looked great with some cool effects for the time it was made and still holds up now. Paul really set a great suspenseful and terrifying mood in space.

Soundtrack:
The score was a little bland but it could have been the visuals took over for it.

Final thoughts:
Event Horizon was a real cool and slick looking movie that really gave me some chills. We get some great acting, terrifying scenes and a real great story that sad to say Paul never gave us again. I would say if you really like sci-fi horror type flicks this is a must to see. I give it a 7/10.
