Evil Dead Blu-Ray (2010)

Review by David Rupp

Five friends go up to a cabin in the woods where they find unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. They find the Necronomicon and the taped translation of the text. Once the tape is played, the evil is released. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. With only one remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle the evil dead.

Written & Directed By Sam Raimi
Starring: Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard DeManincor (as Hal Delrich), Betsy Baker & Theresa Tilly (as Sarah York).

I have seen so many different versions of this, as I bet you too have as an avid Evil Dead fan. The directors this, exended that and let's not forget the stinky (as in odor) Book of the Dead edition. But this my friends takes the cake, picture if you will for a moment a 2 disc set, a comprehensive collection of cool Evil Deadness, enhanced to near perfection.

We all know the story, the acting, the wheelchair cam, the stories, but you get all that now in an enhanced version that is polished to a bright gleam. Yes you will miss things like the edit in moon complete with square, they did do a great job on this, so clear and crisp. I noticed things in the enhanced edition I had never noticed in the 20 times of watching this film.

Now besides the regular and enhanced versions you get an all new commentary with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell plus a second disc of goodies that include the untold saga of the Evil Dead, Unconventional, Reunion Panel, treasures from the cutting room floor and more. This is a true collectors and or completist piece as well as a must have not only for a true fan but someone who is just watching for the first time. So go ahead, buy this, head to a cabin in the woods but don't play any tapes found in the cellar.10/10
