Fearsome Horror Heroines
Article by Bindi Lavelle

This week, let us salute some of horror's most bad ass broads. we're not talking about screaming teens or defenseless nymphs, though many have began this way; we are going to take a look at the warrior women how make monsters tremble in their boots.
First of all there is Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) from the Halloween series (original, of course), the definitive slasher heroine. Curtis' portrayal of babysitter/defender has become a horror archetype.
Then there is the ultimate underdog, Carrie White (Sissy Spacek), who demonstrated the ultimate high school revenge fantasy, while covered in pigs blood no less.
Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) showed us that with lucid dreaming and home alone style booby traps, Freddy Krueger can be defeated.
But when it comes to staring down murders, Clarice Starling (Jodi Foster and later Julianne Moore) takes the cake. As rookie FBI agent she was taught how to profile serial killers by Dr. Hannibal “the cannibal” Lector, a notorious serial killer himself and used these skills to capture, well serial killers.
Of course this bloodbath would not be complete without Sigourney Weaver's unstoppable character, Ellen Riley. The transformation of this character throughout the Aliens series is nothing short of awesome, every time we see Riley she is more hardcore.
Much has been written about women's roles in horror films, but remember who kills the villain in the end.
