Feeding the Masses (2004)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Richard Griffin

Starring:
Billy Garberina/Torch
Rachel Morris/Shelly
Patrick Cohen/Roger
Michael Propster/James

Plot:
A darkly satiric horror film that takes an acid look at the current state of the news media while a mysterious plague is bringing the dead back to life. A small group of news reporters and their military escort set out to tell the truth about what's happening in the world, despite the government's efforts to take control of the media.

Acting:
The acting in this movie was pretty good. Billy Garberina(Torch) lead this movie all the way, he was funny and gave a lot of emotion when it really mattered. I feel that without him in this flick it would have failed. Rachel Morris(Shelly) was there as the lead reporter and did what she had to with the little bit of script she was given. Patrick Cohen(Roger) was pretty good in the role as the asshole military guy who was starting to go off the deep end.

Gore:
The gore worked pretty well, there was a lot of standard stuff for a low budget zombie film. We get lots of gunshots, your typical flesh eating and gut munching and some off screen stuff.

T & A:
We get one pair of boobs and it don’t end good for her.

Directing:
Richard did a nice job with the whole government falling apart post apocalyptic setting. He also had a good writer with Trent Haaga which helped the flick a lot. We get some great character development and a sense of dread and misery. The only thing I felt was hurt was the sudden ending, it felt really rushed and I wonder if they ran out of money.

Soundtrack:
I don’t really remember much of a soundtrack or score, but I don’t really think it was a bad thing, it just added to the realism of the film.

Final thoughts:
Feeding the Masses was a nice surprise with all the low budget zombie flicks out there it’s rare to find a gem like this. We get some great character development along with some fun comedic moments by our lead character. This film also carries a message with how the media shoves a lot of bullshit down our throats. I highly recommend this film and would say its worth a buy. I give it a 8/10.
