Final Exam (1981)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by:Jimmy Huston

Starring:
Cecile Bagdadi/Courtney
Joel Rice/Radish
Ralph Brown/Wildman
John Fallon/Mark

Plot:
As the semester comes to a close, anxiety consumes the students of Lanier College when the dreaded "exam week" commences. But when a psychopathic killer begins to pick off jocks and coeds one by one, good grades are the least of their concerns.

Acting:
The acting in this movie wasn’t to bad and I wont blame the actors for how bad of a script they were given. Joel Rice(Radish) was pretty funny and played the caring nerd great. He was honestly one of the only people you could get behind in the movie. Ralph Brown(Wildman) was pretty funny but a huge asshole. His role is a lot like Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds. The rest of the cast is just there to die.

Gore:
I was really let down by the death scenes. Most of all the kills were off screen and we are just left with the aftermath of what happens. We do get some stabbing, a guy strangled and that’s about it other than off camera stuff.

T & A:
We are only graced with of pair of cha cha’s.

Directing:
It really felt like Jimmy boy just wanted a fast cash in of the slasher craze because nothing was original and the death scenes were terrible. That’s all you have to do rite Jimmy is get some cool death scenes and some boobs. Not very hard to fuck up but you did.

Soundtrack:
The score was pretty cool, it was average for a slasher but it worked fine.

Final thoughts:
Final Exam was a good set up but failed in almost every possible way. First we get a generic killer who looks like some street walker, there is no reason for his killings or no story at all about him. The kills were terrible and a very anti-climatic ending. The only good thing going was the cast, I felt bad they wasted there talent in this movie. I would say this is a slasher to skip past unless you have to see every slasher made. I give it a 3/10.
