Fright Night Film Fest 08
Review by David Rupp

This years Fright Night film Fest in Louisville, KY was in my humble opinion far exeeded last years. The venue was just great, spacious and centralized. There was a large gathering of great guests, films and vendors. The crowds seemed to be bigger as well, but maybe you can blame the economy, gas prices or whatever, the pockets didn't seem so deep. There were a great deal of "are these free" comments, so maybe with a new administration things will improve after Nov.

The one thing that did bother me and I have been hearing this all across the the the line, so it can't be just me, are the audacious prices some celebrities were charging for autographs. Now it seems like the norm is $20 for one of their 8x10's signed, but to charge the same for an item you have brought, or to charge upward of $25 and you have only appeared at like 5 conventions in the last 15 years.....no. I know I had to skip a few people I wanted to get signings from.

The high point had to be Saturday night, Hanging with the very talented and lovely Tiffany Shepis through most of Dark Reel (review comming soon). The Deadpit screening of Savage Streets will be forever burned into my mind as well for other reasons entirely. It was great to meet The Creepy Kentuckian & Uncle Bill again and of course Tim Gross and Rick of DSK, never will a mullet be safe. Along with several of the Deadpit fans, David Gooslin director of Haddonfield, Kevin Strange of Hack Movies, the whole crew from ZP International, Jacob Ennis and everyone else I bumped into.

I look forward to doing this again next year, and something tells me it will be even bigger and better. Make sure you don't miss it, you'll be sorry you did. 10/10.
