Godzilla: Giant Monsters All Out Attack (2001)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Shusuke Kaneko

Starring:
Godzilla
Mothra
King Ghidorah
Baragon

Plot:
Fifty years ago the Japanese Defense Forces killed Godzilla or so they thought. When a series of terrifying natural disasters begin to plague Japan including the inexplicable offshore sinking of a U.S. submarine a mystic old man warns his nation that Godzilla has come back to destroy Japan as revenge for all the souls lost in the Pacific War. When mere military might can not squash the monster the mystic man awakens the Holy Beasts of Yamato - King Ghidorah, Mothra and Baragon sleeping giants that protected Japan in ancient times. These untamed mammoth beasts take on Godzilla with frightening supernatural brute power that has been 2000 years in the making.

Acting:
This is a Godzilla film, so not a lot has changed over all these years. The acting is still very cheesy but that doesn’t really matter, I feel it wouldn’t be the same with some wonder acting provided.

Gore:
There is not any gore here its more like we gets tons of explosions, gunshots galore and a lot of people getting crushed along the way of destruction provided by these giant beasts.

T & A:
Just get Godzilla and his buddies romping around with nothing on.

Directing:
Kaneko did his magic with making this like most of the rest I would say we get some real bad set pieces that are just as good as they would have been 40 years ago and the cgi mixed in with everything was pretty bad, but for some reason it’s just fitting.

Soundtrack:
We get your standard Godzilla theme and that’s about it not really much of a score or music was delivered.

Final thoughts:
Overall Giant Monsters All Out Attack wasn’t really my cup o’ tea, granted I have only seen a few of the Godzilla flicks this one just seemed like the rest and didn’t really add anything new. Also with the title of the flick and bringing all these monsters together the flick seemed pretty boring, we didn’t even see any action until the 45 minute mark. I would say if you are a die hard Godzilla fan check this out otherwise I would give it a pass. I give it a 4/10.
