The Hills Run Red (2009)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Dave Parker

Starring:
Tad Hilgenbrink/Tyler
Sophie Monk/Alexa
Janet Montgomery/Serina
Alex Wyndham/Lalo

Plot:
A group of young horror fans go searching for a film that mysteriously vanished years ago but instead find that the demented killer from the movie is real, and he's thrilled to meet fans who will die gruesomely for his art.

Acting:
The acting here wasn’t too great. The cast was pretty much a bunch of kids that were just no good and a bunch of backstabbers, so it was pretty hard to get behind anyone. Tad Hilgenbrink(Tyler) was probably the one decent one of the flick but just wasn’t very charismatic. Sophie Monk(Alexa) was a Barbie doll that was just there for the looks and nothing more.

Gore:
There was a lot of real cool kill scenes and gore effects here. We get lots of cut off skin, flashbacks of movie kills, some cool pick axe action, gunshots, a slit throat, some torture scenes, a stomach ripped open and some stabbing.

T & A:
We get 6-7 boob shots I think, I lost cont during the strip club scene.

Directing:
Dave did a nice job with the setting of the film but what I thought looked better was the actual movie inside the movie. The footage of the film The Hills Run Red looked sweet.

Soundtrack:
We get a well done average score that didn’t make the film but also didn’t take me out of it. It was kind of just there.

Final thoughts:
The Hills Run Red was a bit of a let down. I had heard a lot of good things about the movie and although it had a great idea behind it I felt that it could have did a better job if the script and casting was changed. What I really wanted to see was the actual movie The Hills Run Red, that flick looked kick ass and could have been a great slasher film. I would say give this one a rent, it has good gore and kills to be worth a hour and a half. I give it a 5/10.
