His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2009)
Review by David Rupp

Directed by: Daniel Farrands and written by: Thommy Hutson & Anthony Masi.

This is a documentary to have for any die hard Friday the 13th fan or just horror fan in general. A 2 disc extravoganza hosted by Tom Savini, and encapsulating interviews with just about every major (and even minor) player in the franchise, His Name Was Jason is a stand out piece of work in defining 30 years of Camp Crystal Lake goings on.

Disc one gives you the feature documentary with an extra feature titled The Men Behind The Mask, where you can see extended interviews with all the faces of Jason Voorhees. Disc two takes you even further with Final Cuts, extended interviews with the directors of this killer franchise. Dragged From the Lake, more stories, candid thoughts, funny afterthoughts and an in depth look at homo erotic shaving. From Script to Screen, interviews with the screenwriters. The Crystal Lake Survival Guide, Jason Takes Comic-con, Fan Films, Friday the 13th in 4 Mins. and more good stuff to shake a stick at.

With interviews and stories from all the characters you will expect and a few you just wonder what happened to, this is one I highly reccomend for any fan old or new. It's almost like a history lesson to the new generation of fan, even the true blue fans may learn something, but I leave that up to you to find out. Get this or Jason will hunt your ass down not so gently turn your rectum into a DVD player. 9/10.
