Hobo with a Shotgun (2011)

Review by Mari Lynne Rupp

The tagline is brilliant..."Delivering Justice one shell at a time"...
This movie, written by Jason Eisener and John Davies, was inspired by the "Grindhouse" trailer of the same name. And it is grindhouse at its most gratifying...violent, oversaturated shots full of over-the-top violence. The Hobo arrives by rail to a big city overrun with gangsters and crimelords (Brian Downey, Gregory Smith and Nick Bateman) keeping the citizens in fear of retribution. After a run-in with local thugs, and helped by a kindly prostitute named Abby (Played by Molly Dunsworth) the Hobo foils a pawnshop robbery by stealing a shotgun and goes a vigilante rampage. Chased by dirty cops and the crimebosses, he continues on, cleaning up the streets, and doling out vigilante justice until the top Crime Boss, Drake turns the tables on him by putting a price on his head.
Don't expect great dialogue or meaningful storylines. It's a genre film This is just a glutfest for grindhouse fans and you should expect cheesy one-liners and gratuitous bloodshed. It's just a really good time and I wish it would've been released at least at a Drive-In theater because they were MADE for films like this.
