The House That Dripped Blood
Review by Jeff
Directed by:
Peter Duffell
Starring:
Christopher Lee/John Reid
Peter Cushing/Phillip Grayson
Ingrid Pitt/Carla Lynde
Chloe Franks/Jane Reid
Plot:
Scotland's Yard's search for a missing film star leads them to a haunted house, which serves as the framework for this sharp British anthology of four horror tales starring icons Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and Ingrid Pitt. In the four stories, a writer's murderous creation comes to life, a wax figure causes a fatal argument between two men, a young girl develops an intense and unhealthy interest in witchcraft, and a film actor finds a cape that helps him get a little too immersed in his role as a vampire.
Acting:
The acting in this film is amazing, we have Christopher Lee(John Reid) who I think is great in almost any film he does, but one of the standouts in the film is Chloe Franks(Jane Reid) who plays a evil child, and I have never seen any child actor do such a great job. Plus there are so many other in this film that are great, it’s a all around great cast.
Gore:
For a film that’s called The House That Dripped “BLOOD” there is not one drop of blood here, what we do get is some strangling, off screen kills, and a steak to the heart.
T & A:
Nothing here but some busty cleavage.
Directing:
This was the fist film I have seen of peter’s and I must say he did excellent work making this a great anthology movie, the sets were awesome and the atmosphere of the film is great.
Soundtrack:
We get a kick ass score that sets the mood for the film well.
Final thoughts:
I have only seen a couple Hammer films so far but I will say this is the best I have seen yet, and prolly one of the best anthology films I have seen other than Creepshow. The acting is great, the setting are spot on, and it’s just a all around fun film to watch. I give it a 8/10.
