The Howling: Reborn (2011)

Review by Mari Lynne Rupp

From IMDB : High-school loner Will Kidman finally asks out the girl of his dreams, the reclusive Eliana Wynter. But Will also discovers a dark secret from his past - that he is a member of a werewolf clan. Even worse, he must also fight a pack of werewolves who are hellbent on killing both him and his new girlfriend.
This movie restored my faith in horror filmmaking. Finally, a reboot done right!! There are many nods to the original and what impresses me most are the werewolf designs themselves, the studio only uses cgi for the shifting, using actual COSTUMES and make up fx for the actual werewolves themselves, very like "Dog Soldiers". Dialogue was great, and the acting was absolutely FIRST RATE> Lindsey Shaw and Landon Libiron (As Will) should be very proud of this film, as should be the writer and director Joe Nimziki....He has made a worthy addition to the werewolf genre and given something to everyone who loves werewolves, especially Twilight fans....A bit gorier than they'd be used to, but a wonderful coming-of-age story for them all the same. There are enough nods to the original to make us fans happy, and it is original enough that it doesn't seem "mocking" or disrespectful. Filmmakers, take note...This is how you do a reboot.
