In the world of Hollywood, there is an abundance of ideas coming and going, and while films like High School Musical 78 keep coming out, every time the school holidays roll around, there is some fantastic stuff the never sees the light of day. That's why this week we are going to look at some great films that were never made.
Ghostbusters in Hell springs to mind. In this film, the Ghostbusters where set to battle nasty spooky things inside the Hell version of New York. Dan Akroyd has had the script sitting around for over 10 years but as Bill Murray doesn't want a part of it, it seems that it will sit around for another ten year.
Following Close Encounters of the Third kind, Spielberg was feeling not so warm and fuzzy and decided he wanted to make some horrible malevolent alien to harass farm folks This script, titled Night Skies later evolved into two vastly different films: E.T. and Poltergeist.
Director George Sluizer began work on the film Dark Blood, but was unable to complete it due to the death of its star, River Phoenix. The plot saw Boy, (Phoenix) a hermit who lives on a nuclear testing site making magical dolls, recuing a couple whose car brakes down and then not letting them leave.
Video game, American McGee's Alice, has been after had rumors circulating around a film adaption. In 2000, Wes Craven was signed to develop the adaptation, however the project has spent the last 9 years going through a variety of screen-writers and Production companies.
There are countless other films that unfortunately been dismissed to the scrap heap, and even those I have mentioned could have been rotting turkeys, but we will never know, we can only ask if only.
