Visual Entertainment Incorporated brings back one of my favorite childhood shows starring Leonard Nimoy. No, not my beloved Star Trek, this show was one where all the myths and mysteries of the world were shown on the television show, "In Search of..." I started watching them in the late seventies...yes...we had television way back then. I would watch "In Search of..." with my father who shared a love for the unknown much like I did.
I was approached with the news that series was assembled and was excited and only too happy to review it. The disk I received contained segments which included: The Mayans, UFO's, Ghosts and Zombies. Leonard Nimoy commented on the Mayan calendar and suggested that we would have to wait 34 years to see if our culture would indeed end on December 24, 2012 when the Mayan calendar ended. His choice of words was comical, because I remember hearing them and seeing the original episode and thinking, "We are all going to die!"
Conspiracy theories, ruins and science mixed with myths and the bizarre can be found in this collection of 152 episodes on 21 discs, that's about 63+ hours of enjoyment. The collection comes with a Bonus: Two Rod Serling (Twilight Zone) hosted specials which first aired prior to the start of the Nimoy-hosted series; and the re-launched 2002 series hosted by Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files). Personally, I preferred the Nimoy-hosted series for sentimental reasons. The collection is available now on DVD presented in full screen and stereo. If you like documentaries and Leonard Nimoy and/or Mitch Pileggi and myths and mysteries, then yes...yes I do recommend this wonderful complete series of "In Search of..."
