Inside (2007)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury
Starring:
Alysson Paradis/Sarah
Beatrice Dalle/Le Femme
Plot:
While driving in a rainy day, the pregnant photographer Sarah crashes her car against another one in a road with no survivors. Four months later, in Christmas Eve, Sarah decides to stay alone at her home, grieving her deceased boyfriend Matthieu and preparing to go to the hospital on the next morning for the delivery. During the night, a stranger wearing black heavily hits on her front door asking to get inside, but Sarah calls the police and the woman vanishes. Later, while sleeping, Sarah is attacked by the woman that broke in her house with a pair of scissors and she runs to the bathroom. During the bloody night of terror, the woman attacks Sarah's visitors and discloses to Sarah who she is and what she wants.
Acting:
The acting in this film was great Beatrice Dalle(Le Femme) was creepy as hell and made one hell of a lead villain, her body language and the way she stalked her victims was awesome, Alysson Paradis(Sarah) was real good in her role and you really felt bad for her, she did a great job.
Gore:
The gore here was off the hook, we get lots of bloodshed and carnage here, we get scissors to the stomach, a needle to the neck, stabbing, a slit throat, a needle to the arm, more scissor action, gunshots, a tongue bit off, and a girls head burned.
T & A:
Nothing here and it’s not needed.
Directing:
Alexandre & Julien added some great tension to the movie there was more than once that I shouted out FUCK! And we get a great bleak atmosphere and some great use of lighting and shadows.
Soundtrack:
We get a great piano score that added a lot to the movie, it was real dark and sad and the same time.
Final thoughts:
I was more than shocked by just how great Inside was, this was a real good change to all the garbage that comes out today and breathes a breath of fresh air into this horror fans body. I don’t even remember the time a movie has effected me and made me want to see what was going to happen next like this film did. After watching Frontiers, and now Inside I am really digging the new trend of French horror flicks coming out. Inside is a must see for any true horror fan. I give it a 10/10.
