In The Woods (1999)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Lynn Drzick
Starring:
DJ Perry/Alex Kerwood
Aimee Tenaglia/Helen
Tim Jeffrey/Larry
Plot:
Two hunters who have journeyed deep into the woods stumble across a burial site. They decide to dig it up. It is only after they uncover a strange horned skull amongst the artifacts that they become aware of the evil they have unleashed. Getting out of the woods becomes a nightmare for the two men.
Acting:
The acting in this movie was very bad and like I said before I enjoy B movies and can get passed a lot of stuff but this was horrible. DJ Perry(Alex) was just lame in the lead and they should have cast someone more strong in the lead role. The rest of cast were throw a ways to say the least.
Gore:
There wasn’t too much gore here just a lot of the aftermath of what has happened and I would guess that would be for budgetary reasons. We do get some bloody body parts, a arm bit off, and some stupid looking monsters.
T & A:
Not a thing here it was bone dry.
Directing:
Lynn didn’t really give us a lot here, the flick looked like it was shot in his hometown or even better his back yard. But I could honestly get past that if it had a better plot.
Soundtrack:
The score was pretty bland they didn’t give us any dramatic music pieces when it could have helped a lot of areas of this movie. There was no music or score to build tension and it really needed it.
Final thoughts:
In The Woods looked like a rough cut or a movie someone threw together just have fun and not to distribute. If they would have taken more time, made some edits, add some kind of a score and threw in a little more gore this would have been a ok flick. But instead we get a pretty crappy little low budget movie that just wasn’t that entertaining. I would say stay away from this flick there are a lot better choices out there. I give it a 2/10.
