Invitation (2003)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by:Jeff Burton

Starring:
Rick Kunzi/Dan
Johanna Lixey/Lexy
Tommy Strasz/Tom
Tricia Lyn Scott/Violet

Plot:
The members of the old group of friends all receive mysterious invitations to reunite at an old lodge. Thinking one of the group must have some "big announcement", they all arrive at the lodge. What the group learns about the lodge and the real reason why they were "invited", leaves them fighting for their lives.

Acting:
The acting in the film was pretty good. Rick Kunzi(Dan) was a good solid lead that played the good guy role spot on. Tommy Strasz(Tom) gave us the comedy relief of the film, he was great and knocked the rating of this film up a notch. All the rest of the cast were pretty much assholes and were there for a body count.

Gore:
Half way through the movie I was like wow this is really letting me down but then look out here comes the gore. We get a lot of gunshots, flesh eating, some golf club action, a explosion and a zombie set on fire.

T & A:
We get 3 pairs of breasts here and nothing for the ladies.

Directing:
Jeff did a pretty solid job with this straight to video film. The setting of the flick was good, the camera work was solid and looked real clean. Nothing to complain about on his part.

Soundtrack:
The score was well done, nothing that overshadows the film at all but is a nice fit.

Final thoughts:
Invitation was a pretty solid slasher film that was good up until the end and that’s where I had a problem. The ending was terrible; I felt they could have did a better job at wrapping this up. The cast worked very well together and felt like these could be a real group of old school friends. Overall I would say this is a good watch. I give it a 6/10.
