The Last Exorcism (2010)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Daniel Stamm

Starring:
Patrick Fabian/Rev. Marcus
Ashley Bell/Nell
Louis Herthum/Louis
Caleb Landry Jones/Caleb

Plot:
Ready to expose his miraculous deeds as mere trickery, Rev. Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) invites a documentary crew to film his final exorcism. But when the devil actually possesses a girl's body, Marcus must regain his faith and engage in the fight of his life.

Acting:
The acting in this movie was very good, Patrick Fabian(Rev Marcus) was funny and very likeable. He kept this movie entertaining with all his tricks and when the shit hit the fan he was awesome too. Ashley Bell(Nell) was great, you really believed she was going through all the pain and suffering and just felt down right bad for her.

Gore:
There was not a lot of gore, most of what happens is off camera or after the fact stuff. We get a nasty cut up face, a sick birth scene, a girl hacked up and a slit throat.

T & A:
None of that stuff here.

Directing:
Daniel did a amazing job with the shot of film style filmmaking. He also made this very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. The use of lighting worked very well as well as the setting of the film was good.

Soundtrack:
he score was real good and added a lot to the tense parts of the movie. Even though this is supposed to be shot on film and real the score still works and I don’t mind it being added in there one bit.

Final thoughts:
The Last Exorcism was a real nice surprise. I would say other than The Exorcist this has to be rite up there with one of best exorcism movies out there. It was fresh to see a different take on the subject with the lead guy trying to expose it and have it shoved back in his face. The ending of the film was the best part to me and I know a lot of people didn’t really care for it, but I thought it was great. I would say this is a must see and for me a must buy. I give it a 9/10.
