Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf (2010)

Review by David Rupp

Capturing the sadistic serial killer "The Wolf" was just the beginning for rookie cop Johnny Morgan. As he escorts the monster to his new home in the dark underground halls of Parker's Asylum, bedlam ensues and Johnny along with a handful of civilians become players in a night of survival against the world's most terrifying inmates.

Medium Raw, released and sent to us from Anchor Bay had so much potential, but just fell short on a few levels. The story for one was very interesting, dark and moody, yet 3/4 of the way in we guessed the twist and were right. Another thing was acting there were some really good acting such as William B. Davis, John Rhys-Davies, Jason Reso (Christian from WWE) and Shawn Lawrence. We also see Test in his last role before he died as Benny. The down side of the acting was Andrew Cymek who at best seemed wooden and 2 dimensional and Brigitte Kingsley who really became annoying in her role.
With the movie set mostly in an old asylum, it had a great feel if a bit too dingy for where it was set. great kills and somewhat believable effects along with a cool creep factor from characters Oliver and Mabel. I'd say check it out for curiosity sake but it's not one of those movies to jump up and down for.
