Metamorphosis (1990)
Review by Jeff Hudson
Directed by: George Eastman
Starring:
Gene LeBrock/Dr. Houseman
Catherine Baranov/Sally
David Wicker//Willy
Stephen Brown/Lloyd
Plot:
Dr. Peter Houseman is a brilliant geneticist who is working on a serum which will stop human aging, but his colleagues don't believe in his work. When his university funding is threatened by his skeptical benefactors, the doctor takes a desperate measure to justify his work. He administers the serum to himself, but the results are unexpected and horrendous.
Acting:
The acting in this film is pretty good for the most part, it’s just the actors got put into a shitty movie, Gene LeBrock(Dr. Houseman) was good in the lead role and I thought did his best with what he had, Catherine Baranov(Sally) was decent but didn’t add a lot to make you really care, the rest of cast was ok just not a lot to say about them.
Gore:
We get a head bashed in, a guy strangled, some biting, a cut throat, and some off screen kills, nothing to grand and most of it all comes at the end of the movie.
T & A:
We get 2 pairs here, but don’t blink or you will miss them.
Directing:
George should have stuck with his acting and not gone on to directing, there wasn’t anything good here, and the film had real bad transitions, and the make up effects were horrible.
Soundtrack:
The score was pretty cool, but it overshadowed by how bad the movie was.
Final thoughts:
I wasn’t going into this movie thinking it would be great or anything, and I was rite, it was pretty low budget but looked like they tried to make it look like a big budgeted film. This movie was pretty boring and the ending was real stupid, so I would say stay far away from this film if you ever see it for rent. I give it a 3/10.
