Mum and Dad (2008)
Review by David Rupp

Mum and Dad, and their 'adopted' children, Birdie & Elbie, work at the airport. The family live off whatever they scavenge from cargo holds, offices and hotels - including a steady stream of transient workers who populate the airport's soulless hub. When Lena, a young Polish office cleaner, is befriended by Birdie, she gets drawn into a nightmarish world of torture, murder and perversity. Imprisoned in a suburban House of Horrors and designated a 'Mummy's Girl', Lena's only options appear to be to become part of the family - and join them in their insanity - or die.
Written and directed by Steven Sheil and starring: Perry Benson, Dido Miles, Olga Fedori, Ainsley Howard & Toby Alexander.
I have to give a large amount of praise to this film. Why? It is one of those rare pieces of art that make me both uncomortable and fascinated in the same instance. We get a treat of a great story (torturous yet not Hostel-like) realistic scenarios, great believible acting, characters that are well rounded and you actually want to know. Put all that with the imagry, sets, lighting, effects and impressive shots and you will understand where I am coming from.
This is over all a great movie. I highly reccomend it, I don't want to spoil any of the key moments but some of the visualizations are just jaw dropping. Forinstance, the Christmas scene showcases fine acting, insanity and a room full of oddity, a great blend for this moment. It is hard to describe this film with out giving too much away. A must see, if only to take an adventure into the psychotic. 9/10.
