Murder Party (2007)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Jeremy Saulnier
Starring:
Chris Sharp/Chris
Stacy Rock/Lexi
Alex Barnett/Alexander
Macon Blair/Macon
Plot:
Chris practically has no social life and figures he's going to be stuck at home on Halloween until he finds an invitation for a murder party on the sidewalk, expecting a costume party with fun and games, he slaps together a cardboard suit of armor and shows up for the festivities. The bash is being thrown by a group of artists who are rather surprised he has shown up, he's the only stranger to take the bait and arrive for their party, in which their guest of honor is actually going to be killed in the name of creativity and impressing a jaded patron who finances their projects. Before long, Chris begins to realize what's going on, and struggles to find a way out of the warehouse where the party is being held, while the artists begin to turn on one another and the blood starts to flow.
Acting:
The acting is pretty good but in a odd way, Chris Sharp(Chris) play the shy very well and even though he doesn’t have many lines he is the stand out in the film, the rest of the cast are just a bunch of crazy artsy people who like to do drugs and want to kill a stranger for grant money.
Gore:
The gore in this movie is great and very realistic looking, we get gunshots, a guy burned, some chainsaw action, a axe to the head, and people hacked to pieces with a axe.
T & A:
Not much other than 2 girls naked but with body paint, pretty cool.
Directing:
I don’t understand what Jeremy was trying to do here, the film seemed real slow and a lot of the scenes just seemed to drag out way to long and didn’t make a lot of sense, but other than that it looked pretty good.
Soundtrack:
We get some rock music here and there and a score that is there but doesn’t really stand out much.
Final thoughts:
Murder Party felt very odd and never got me into what was going on, it like these people want to kill a stranger and that about it. The acing was good but it’s too bad the plot was so shitty. I would say stay away from this movie if you see it but if you do check it out let me warn you the cover looks a lot better than what it is. I give it a 4/10.
