My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Review by Jeff

Directed by: George Mihalka

Starring:
Paul Kelman/T.J.
Lori Hallier/Sarah
Neil Affleck/Axel
Don Francks/Chief Newby

Plot:
There's a big valentine-party planned in the little coal mining town of Valentine Bluffs, Nova Scotia. It is the first Valentine's Day party in 20 years, because then there was an accident in the mine, and the accident happened because the men responsible for the security was at the party. The sole surviving miner, named Harry Warden, later killed them, and told the town never to arrange a Valentine's Day party again. The party begins, and so does the killing.

Acting:
The acting in this film was ok kind of typical for the 80’s slasher films, Paul Kelman(T.J.) plays the lead guy and seems like a ass most of the movie, Lori Hallier(Sasah) is lead girl torn between to guys all of the movie, one person that stood out to me was Don Francks(Chief Newby) he was good as the cop and seemed to put a lot into his role.

Gore:
For a slasher film with bloody in the title it was pretty dry, we get some pick axe action, lots of off screen kills, a head put in boiling water, a nail gun to the head and that’s about it.

T & A:
Well we don’t get a thing here, 80’s slasher movie with no boobs….yep.

Directing:
George gave us some cool first person camera shots, and the location of the movie was real cool and different, other than that stuff was just standard.

Soundtrack:
We get some rock and country music, along with a cool score that sounded a lot like the one from Friday The 13th.

Final thoughts:
My Bloody Valentine had a real cool original plot but it really lacked in the gore department, I was hoping to see a lot of the kills but almost everything was shot to where you didn’t see a thing. The acting was ok, and it has a sweet ending credits song about the movie, but other than that I would say it’s a standard slasher movie. I give it a 7/10.
