A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)
Review by Bindi Lavelle

Definitely me favorite aspect of the Nightmare on Elm Street films is that each film introduces a new premise, which expands the universe rather than being poor reproductions of the original.

In Dream Warriors, we see Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) return all grown up and a psychiatrist at a youth metal ward. There she teaches the Freddy Krugger’s latest batch of prey how to control their dreams.

As always with the Nightmare films, the practical effects are rich, tight and imaginative; particularly as we look at each teen’s unique dreamscape as well as Freddy’s lair.

There also needs to be mentioned that there are some killer tracks by Dokken in the soundtrack, including the song Dream Warriors which should fill all your 80s rock needs.

Dream Warriors also shows quite a bit of Freddy’s origins, as such this film is best enjoyed by those already familiar with the character; this in not to say that this film isn’t a great place for a greenhorn to start as it will give then a good taste for the series.

As a huge fan of this series I would strongly recommend Dream Warriors to pretty much anyone who digs Freddy Krugger, dark fantasy or 80s horror. 8.5/10
