Night Of The Comet (1984)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Thom Eberhardt

Starring:
Catherine Mary Stewart/Regina
Kelli Maroney/Samantha
Robert Beltran/Hector

Plot:
Two girls from the valley wake up to find that a passing comet has eradicated their world and left behind a mysterious red dust and a pack of cannibal mutants. With the help of a friendly truck driver, the girls save the earth from a villainous think tank and karate chop their way through flesh eating zombies, and, of course, find time to go to the mall.

Acting:
The acting in this flick was good, Catherine Mary Stewart(Regina) was good in the lead role she comes across as a good strong woman, Kelli Maroney(Samantha) is the typical blonde air head and she plays it so well, Robert Beltran(hector) was ok but was only in the movie half of the time.

Gore:
The film was pretty dry when it came to the gore, but we do get a wrench to the head, some gunshots, and off screen kills.

T & A:
Not a thing here.

Directing:
Thom did a nice job setting up the look of a empty city, and there was some cool lighting used for the limited budget this guy had.

Soundtrack:
It’s all about the 80’s rock here, we get all kinds of songs you should remember if you grew up in the 80’s.

Final thoughts:
Night Of The Comet was a different take on a end of the world zombie film, I felt it catered to girls more than guys and that’s something and original I felt hadn’t been done before or since. The acting was really solid, and the story was well done, I am surprised there was never a sequel made from this. I say if you’re a fan of 80’s horror or zombie films check this one out. I give it a 7/10.
