Review Paranorman (2012)

Review by by Mimi Rupp
Norman Babcock can speak with the dead.
This was a delightful little tale of a young boy with an extraordinary gift for communicating with the dead. It starts off humorously with him talking to his grandmother while watching a zombie movie, and we find out later, his grandmother has passed away, he was speaking to her spirit, and his family either doesn't believe him, or thinks there's something wrong with him. THis movie harbours a lot of lessons in being different, and tolerance, wrapped in a pseudo-horror/humourous setting without speaking down to kids like some kids movies can do.
When the town is besieged with the curse of a "Witch" from two hundred years ago, only Norman can talk to the evil taking over the town and put it to rest, and finds some of the acceptance he had been missing.
