Pick Me Up(2006)
Review by Jeff

Directed by: Larry Cohen

Starring:
Fairuza Balk/Stacia
Warren Kole/Walker
Michael Moriarty/Wheeler

Plot:
In the middle of nowhere, with only a two-lane highway to connect it to anywhere--probably upstate New York--a recently divorced female traveler, who is a passenger on a bus that has broken down, gets caught in a bizarre and violent turf war between two serial killers: a truck driver with a slur and a hitchhiker with a twang.

Acting:
The acting in this film was real good, Fairuza Bulk(Stacia) was great she has a real unique look to her and I felt was a good choice in this role, Warren Kole(Walker) played a normal, harmless drifter and kind of had the Matt Damon look going on, Michael Moriarty(Wheeler) was the stand out of the movie, he was real creepy and just had this Hannibal aspect to him to where he seemed real nice but in a messed up way.

Gore:
Overall the gore wasn’t over the top but we do get some good stuff, we get a gut strangled with a snake, some gunshots, a head cut off, some off screen stuff, and a nasty accident.

T & A:
We get one pair here but not in the way you want to see it.

Directing:
Larry gave us some real nice shots like a sweet overhead shots in the motel and Stacia coming out of the fog, real good stuff here.

Soundtrack:
We get a Avenged Sevenfold tune early on and a really well done score.

Final thoughts:
Pick Me Up is one of the better Maters Of Horror films that were done, I haven’t seen a lot Larry’s films but I would say this is my favorite of his work. The characters are all real good even the side one’s that we don’t see much, and just the concept of the story is original and fun. I would say this is a must see and if you are fan of the Masters Of Horror series you will enjoy this. I give it a 8/10.
