Psycho Cop (1988)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Wallace Potts
Starring:
Robert R. Shafer/Officer Joe Vickers
Jeff Qualle/Doug
Palmer Lee Todd/Laura
Linda West/Sarah
Plot:
Officer Joe Vickers would probably make a good policeman if it weren't for his two nasty habits. Firstly, he is a devoted Satanist secondly he likes to kill people. When he meets a group of teenagers spending their vacation in the wilderness, he decides to investigate.
Acting:
The acting in this film is super cheesy and real bad for the most part, but to me it makes the movie that much better as odd as that sounds, Robert R. Shafer(Officer Vickers) was awesome, he has some funny one liners he just looks the role of a psycho cop, the rest of the cast was kind of the same all annoying yuppie teenagers ready to be killed.
Gore:
The gore was pretty light but we get a snapped neck, some off screen kills, a axe to the head, billie club down the throat, girl hit by a car, someone tased to death, gunshots, heart ripped out, and a tree branch through the chest, yeah it sounds like a lot but you don’t see much.
T & A:
This is one 80’s slasher with no nudity, yep no fun here.
Directing:
Wallace did a nice job making this a fun campy type of film, it looked nice, and the settings were good, so nothing to complain about here.
Soundtrack:
We get a little rock music, and the score was nice but not over done.
Final thoughts:
Psycho Cop is one of those cheesy b movie slasher films that you will remember renting as a kid at your local mom and pop video store, I think its great the characters are really good to where you want to see the cop kill them, and Officer Joe Vickers is funny and made this movie what it was. If you like cheesy slashers give this one a rent. I give it a 8/10.
