Rawhead Rex (1986)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: George Pavlou
Starring:
David Dukes/Howard
Kelly Piper/Elaine
Ronan Wilmot/Declan
Plot:
A Irish farmer decides that it is high time to move that big old stone in his field that has been there seemingly since the dawn of time. No sooner does he move the rock when out rushes an enormous, blood-thirsty pagan demon, Rawhead Rex, who immediately goes berserk and begins biting people left and right. Among the bitten is the son of an American professor of history and anthropology. His father immediately begins researching the angry old god and plotting his demise.
Acting:
The acting in this movie is bad but in kind of a good way, David Dukes(Howard) is good in the lead role, his acting isn’t to bad and comes across as a strong lead guy, Ronan Wilmot(Declan) is great as the evil priest, he has some funny lines and just looks plain ass crazy.
Gore:
There wasn’t much gore here, most of kills were off screen or just shot so you couldn’t see shit, and other than that we get some biting, a gunshot, and some guys caught on fire.
T & A:
We get one brief boob shot.
Directing:
George did a pretty bad job with a lot of shots, I would say he should have showed a lot more of kills in a movie like this, and nothing else really stood out that looked great.
Soundtrack:
The score was pretty good at times, but it didn’t stand out a lot and could have been used a lot better.
Final thoughts:
Rawhead Rex reminds me of a lot of 80’s horror movies that are so bad they are kind of good, you can tell he tried to make a very serious horror movie but it fails pretty bad in that aspect. The monster Rex looks real cheesy and so fake it’s great, there are also a lot of out of place swearing that just comes off as very funny. I would say to pass on this movie, but with all the odd ball stuff and just being so awful you should check it out. I give it a 4/10.
