Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008)
Review by Bindi Lavelle

A sublime CG film based on the popular Capcom games, Degeneration is a solid film in its own right, rather than the usual flat game adaptions.
7 years after Racoon City was bombed to destroy the T-virus and its carriers (ie zombies) a vengeful survivor sets the virus loose in a busy airport. Thankfully Leon S. Kennedy and Clair Redfield, also Racoon City survivors are nearby and jump into action to save the day.
The film starts slowly and at first looks like average video game visuals but as the plot develops, some fantastic creature designs are reviled.
It is not necessary to be familiar with the games to enjoy this film, however fans of the games will get a lot more out of it as while it is a stand alone film there are events and characters from the games. The content from the games is easily recognizable to gamers, and thankfully it is easily explained and not overwhelming for non-gamers.
The medium of CG animation leads itself perfectly to dynamic horror action: the climax of the film showcases the form wonderfully. Resident Evil: Degeneration show that an animated horror film can be more than a novelty.
Resident Evil: Degeneration is an all round well developed horror film and thoroughly enjoyable animated feature. Perfect for zombie fans and gamers. 7/10
