Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Russell Mulcahy
Starring:
Milla Jovovich/Alice
Oded Fehr/Carlos
Ali Larter/Claire
Iain Glen/Dr. Isaacs
Plot:
Years after the Raccoon City disaster, Alice is on her own; aware that she has become a liability and could endanger those around her, she is struggling to survive and bring down the Umbrella Corporation led by the sinister Albert Wesker and head researcher Dr. Isaacs. Meanwhile, traveling through the Nevada Desert and the ruins of Las Vegas, Carlos Olivera, L.J., and new survivors K-Mart, Claire Redfield, and Nurse Betty must fight to survive extinction against hordes of zombies, killer crows and the most terrifying creatures created as a result of the deadly T-Virus that has killed millions
Acting:
The acting in this film was pretty good for the most part, Milla Jovovich(Alice) was the usual, she kicks a lot of ass, but doesn’t deliver a lot in the acting department here, Oded Fehr(Carlos) was awesome I really like his in this series of films, he looks cool, and is a great actor, Ali Larter(Claire) was ok but we don’t really get to know a lot about her character here in this film.
Gore:
The gore was ok but it seemed a little light at times, we get some flesh eating, a arrow to the head, tons of gunshots, bird attacks, and some knife action.
T & A:
Not a thing here.
Directing:
Russell made the film look sweet and I really dug the environment that it had, with it being all post apocalyptic and stuff but that was about it only really one location, I would have liked to see a bit more here.
Soundtrack:
We get a upbeat techno rock type score here that fit well like the other Resident Evil films.
Final thoughts:
Resident Evil: Extinction let me down a bit I guess, there was a huge lack of plot, the character build up was bad, most of the new people that come into this film you don’t really know anything about when it’s over, and the movie was a bit to short. I would say this is a ok action/horror film and if it was a stand alone movie and not part of a series it would be a little better. I give it a 6/10.
