Revolting Cocks - Got Cock?

Review by Jason Norwood

Rating: ***
Standout tracks: Poke-A-Hot-Ass, Me So Horny (of course....)
When the new RevCo album got dropped in my lap, I had to rub my chin a little bit. Now that Al Jourgensen has ended Ministry, what's an industrial rock king to do with his spare time? Put out a Revolting Cocks album, of course. This isn't necessarily a bad thing--nobody can make the industrial crowd laugh like a good RevCo album. Having their beginnings as a side project between Front 242 and Ministry, they became famous more for their cover versions (see "Do Ya ThinK I'm Sexy") then their original material. The cover here, 2 Live Crew's "Me So Horny", should be played in every single club on the planet. The original material, however, seems to lack the playfulness that permeated previous RevCo releases--it could be a Ministry album with more electronics, but it lacks that bite that Jourgensen's "other band" had. Stand it up against the rest of the RevCo canon, and it still falls short. In the end, "Got Cock?" simply feels like Jourgensen going through the motions, and will likely leave a lot of fans flat.
