The Ring (2002)
Review by Jeff Hudson
Directed by: Gore Verbinski
Starring:
Naomi Watts/Rachel
David Dorfman/Aidan
Martin Henderson/Noah
Daveigh chase/Samara
Plot:
Rachel Keller is a journalist investigating a videotape that may have killed four teenagers (including her niece). There is an urban legend about this tape: the viewer will die seven days after watching it. If the legend is correct, Rachel will have to run against time to save her son's and her own life.
Acting:
The acting in this film is great, Naomi Watts(Rachel) put a lot of emotion in her role and added a lot to the film, David Dorfman(Aidan) was good as a creepy little kid, Martin Henderson(Noah) was likeable and added a little humor to the movie at times.
Gore:
This film wasn’t about gore it was about scaring the shit out of you, but we do get some messed up faces, a guy electrocuted, and a suffocation.
T & A:
Not a thing here this is PG-13 folks.
Directing:
Gore is the fucking man, he gives us some amazing camera shots, smart use of lighting, and wonderful colors, also look out for some subliminal images throughout the film.
Soundtrack:
The score is great, it is very grim and dreadful and adds so much to how creepy the movie is.
Final thoughts:
I will start out by saying this is the first movie I have ever seen in the theaters that gave me the chills, and that says a lot to how freaky this movie is. The opening scene is great and is a perfect start to what you are going to get throughout the rest of the film. The acting is great, the film just looks spot on perfect. If you are looking for a good scary movie I would say check this out. I give it a 10/10.
