Return Of The Living Dead Part 2 (1988)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Ken Wiederhorn
Starring:
Michael Kenworthy/Jesse
Marsha Dietlin/Lucy
Thom Mathews/Joey
James Karen/Ed
Plot:
A group of kids accidentally release of mysterious gas which wakes up the inhabitants of an adjacent graveyard. The zombies want only one thing and that's BRAINS and there are plenty of them in the local town which has been sealed off by the army.
Acting:
The acting in this film was great we get James Karen(Ed) and Thom Mathews(Joey) back together from the first movie and that’s always a great thing because these two guys are hilarious together and Michael Kenworthy(Jesse) was good as the likeable smart ass little kid, Philip Bruns(Doc Mandel) also added some good humor to the movie.
Gore:
We get tons here, a cut off head, smashed in face, crowbar to the head, tons of brain eating, screwdriver’s to the head, fire poker through the chest, run down zombies, cut off head, gunshots, ripped off arm, zombies getting electrocuted, and a jaw ripped off.
T & A:
None of that stuff here, unlike the first this one is a little tamed down.
Directing:
This movie looked real nice and was a lot more hokey than the first one, but the effects were real nice, and the lighting fit real well.
Soundtrack:
The score was real good and we get some kick ass 80’s metal music here.
Final thoughts:
The first one is my favorite movie of all time, and I think part 2 is great. This film was more of the horror-comedy side of things, and it did a great job, the cast was great, zombies looked sweet, and the soundtrack worked well, if you enjoyed the first film and love zombie movies give this one a watch. I give it a 9/10.
