Scarecrow (2002)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Emmanuel Ltier
Starring:
Tim Young/Lester
Todd Rex/The Scarecrow
Tiffany Shepis/Judy
Jen Richey/Morgan
Plot:
A high school outcast who lives in a trailer with his mother finally meets a friend. He wants to ask her if they can go the next step, but then sees her kissing another boy at a party. He runs home only to find his mother having sex with a drunk. He starts yelling, but is countered by the drunk when he suffocates him and makes him look like he hung himself. The scarecrow comes in when the boy's soul is pushed into it. He goes out for revenge.
Acting:
The acting in this film was pretty good for about the first 30 minutes or so then after the scarecrow comes to life things went in a different directing with real cheesy acting. Tim Young(Lester) was real good and he was very believable as the outcast kid, Tiffany Shepis(Judy) was ok but like most parts she plays she is more there for the eye candy.
Gore:
The blood flows here we get lots of good stuff, we get a pole through the stomach, head cut off, sticks or something through the back, lots of cycle action, corn cob to the neck, pointer through the head, frying pan to the head, face burned, heart ripped out, shovel to the neck, gunshots, and a guy set on fire.
T & A:
You would think a cheap ass low budget flick with Tiffany Shepis in it would deliver, but no we don’t a single thing.
Directing:
Ltier did a solid job with the lighting, and the story was real good, I was pretty surprised by the story being as good as it was for the most part.
Soundtrack:
The score here was awesome it was real good almost like a score you would hear in a Full Moon Pictures flick, and we also get some rock-a-billy music and a little heavy metal.
Final thoughts:
Scarecrow was kind of a hard film to judge because it was serious for about the first 35 minutes of the film but then after that it turned into a cheesy Jack Frost type of movie, and I like cheesy flicks like that but I would rather have them be one or the other. The acting was solid and we get some funny one liners from the Scarecrow along with some ridicules power ranger type martial arts flips and shit that makes no sense., but all in all it’s a fun film to check out. I give it a 7/10.
