Scarecrow Slayer (2003)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: David Michael Latt
Starring:
Tony Todd/Caleb Kilgore
Nicole Kingston/Mary
David Castro/Karl
Steven Schultz/Gavin
Plot:
While attempting to steal a creepy scarecrow from a farmer's field, Dave is shot and his soul is captured by the scarecrow, giving it life. The Scarecrow quickly begins a murderous rampage in an attempt to find Mary, Dave's former girlfriend. Mary and Dave's friend Karl seek the assistance of the local sheriff, but the small town officer of the law is no match for the diabolical creature made of burlap and straw who is determined to make Mary his bride.
Acting:
The acting in this film is very bad for the most part, Tony Todd(Caleb) is the only bright spot here and he is only in the film for like 30 minutes or so, Nicole Kingston(Mary) is very annoying as the lead girl and doesn’t add much to the movie, the rest of cast are just throw a ways nothing more to mention.
Gore:
The gore in this movie is pretty tame we get a guy impaled by a pitchfork, some gunshots, a lot of off screen stuff, a girl hung, and a body cut in half, I also have to mention horrible the cgi is here just makes things a lot worse than they already are.
T & A:
Not a single thing here.
Directing:
I would say David failed big time here, there was just nothing good that stood out, the lighting was bad, the back drops that were used were real shitty and just no cool shots or anything.
Soundtrack:
The score was pretty cool for the last half of the film, but that wont save this movie at all.
Final thoughts:
This is one of those shitty ass movies you would catch on the sci-fi channel late at night and just think to yourself “why the fuck would someone make a piece of shit like this?” That being said Scarecrow Slayer has nothing good to offer, the acting is very bad, the gore is lame, and the plot is just stupid as hell, stay far away from this movie. I give it a 2/10.
