The Screwfly Solution (2006)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Joe Dante
Starring:
Jason Priestley/Alan
Kerry Norton/Ann
Elliott Gould/Barney
Linda Darlow/Bella
Plot:
The Screwfly Solution tracks the progression of a vicious virus that transforms average men into murderous maniacs who impulsively attack every woman who crosses their path. When a suburban housewife and her teenage daughter set out in search of sanctuary, it doesn't take long for them to realize just how difficult it will be to escape an entire gender of homicidal psychopaths. Jason Priestley and Elliott Gould star as devoted scientists racing to find a cure for the virus before it's too late.
Acting:
The acting in this film was very nice, Jason Priestley(Alan) was spot on and I was shocked by how well he did playing both the nice guy and the bad guy, Kerry Norton(Ann) was good and was very believable in her role, and Elliott Gould(Barney) is great as always, I think his role added to movie a lot and I am glad they casted him.
Gore:
They didn’t go overboard with the gore but when it was used it looked real nice and very realistic, we get a broken bottle to the neck, some gunshots, and some stabbing.
T & A:
We get 3 pairs of boobs here.
Directing:
Dante does it again with a another great Masters Of Horror episode, the mood and tone of the film was real well done, and we also get some real nice camera shots.
Soundtrack:
We get a good chilling score that was perfect for the movie.
Final thoughts:
The Screwfly Solution is one my favorite Masters Of Horror episodes, we get some great acting from a veteran cast and it’s a fresh odd movie that has never been done before that I know of. If you’re a fan of Masters Of Horror or Joe Dante’s work give this one a watch you wont be let down. I give it a 9/10.
